Ways to improve client communication

Effective Client communication and client communication upon first glance appear very similar, but as clients are varied so are the approaches to communication.

Client communication maybe simple and short, sometimes with little substance or impact and other times it's all the client needs at that moment in time.

Whereas effective client communication puts you in the clients position (the clients point of view) what would you expect if you were the client?

In some cases the method of communication is even more important than the message communicated, a trail (paper/email/text or recording) can generally resolve potential conflicts in the future.

How to Improve Client communication

Ask questions: Questions are a simple yet powerful tool you can use to ensure you’re always on the same page with your client. Don’t be afraid to ask questions no matter how simple or silly it seems. It shows your client you care about their input.

Present your plan: A good plan communicates the who, what, why, when, and how. Reviewing the plan with your client promotes discussion about the details and enables you to set clear expectations. It also serves as a go-to resource for questions or issues.

Introduce your client to communication tools: Communication and Planning tools encourage collaboration and enable you to document conversations, milestones and time management plans along the way.
